Gronked ::: Favorites Aikido has been referred to asw moving meditation, and Tai Chi is a martial art done slowly, so in a way you are right. I can't say if Aikido is like an aggressive Tai Chi as I don't know if Tai Chi is circular and soft like Aikido. 07-10-05 07:18:03 __________________________________________________
WinterAyars ::: Favorites IMO Aikido is closer to Tai Chi than it is to Yoga, but that's nit-picky stupid stuff. Aikido is kind of like aggressive Tai Chi... 07-10-02 10:04:44 __________________________________________________
WinterAyars ::: Favorites Close, but wrong. Aikido is not for running away OR attacking. 07-10-02 10:03:39 __________________________________________________
WinterAyars ::: Favorites I know someone who went to Japan and joined MMA and tried to use Aikido. It turns out it's really really hard to do. Half of Aikido just doesn't work or is banned (because it's way too dangerous to use in competition fights) and the rest is difficult to use in that sort of environment without the full set of techniques to rely upon. He said he was able to modify a lot of Aikido stuff and make it work, though. 07-10-02 10:03:14 __________________________________________________
Gronked ::: Favorites Oh it's just a dance: yes it looks dance-like and very graceful. It's fake cuz the opponent jumps: yes he probly does jump a little ahead of the technique, otherwise things would break! An MMA fighter would kick his butt: usually cuz MMA fighters are massive, angry roid munchers with all strength and little technique. If people understood the underlying principles of aikido, they would realise why it looks dancey and fake... to the untrained eye. 07-10-02 09:10:55 __________________________________________________
symbolx69 ::: Favorites Yeah that is the problem with aikido insutrction. They do examples and end up injuring their students joints in the process, turning them into cripples 07-09-30 00:08:16 __________________________________________________
tuod666 ::: Favorites yup...me 2...really impressive...thank you very much for this vid..really inspires me to do well :) 07-09-28 12:02:37 __________________________________________________
watts18269 ::: Favorites I never thought Moriteru was any good till i saw this vid:) 07-09-27 22:19:09 __________________________________________________
Aewrik ::: Favorites I don't think you could use Aikido in MMA and still call it Aikido. But if you use "real" aikido... Motion is very important in Aikido, and if you want to avoid injuries, so is Ukemi. For example, a proper shiho-nage, irimi-nage or nikkyo could seriously injure a struggling uke. Trust me, I know how horrible nikkyo is. After two years, it still hurts when i exert my wrist. 07-09-24 21:05:06 __________________________________________________
csu86 ::: Favorites aikidiost respect all kind of martial art as i say. we leared aikido to defend our self not to attack other person. we always in a defensive position and we stand for that. we are not telling that were going to run but we will stand in a critical situation again to defend our self. 07-09-22 03:16:09 __________________________________________________ |
