Description:

Taken from 1967 TV special The Belle of 14th Street Act II, Barbra plays a German operatic diva Madame Schmausen Schmidt sining Liebestraum, then does double duty as a boy in the audience invited to sing a duet of Mother Macree with the on-stage Streisand!! AMAZING! Is there anything this DiVa can't sing?!!

Wonderful parody, well sung with just the right amount of exaggeration to get the humor across! Is that Milton Berle introducing her?

Even I understand written Yiddish even though I am not a Jew - sadly. :) She was having a major advantage there. :) (Not to speak of her maternal family sprung in Austria!) Anyways, CHEERS&THANKS for sharing this special one!!! I love Babs! :) There is a talent on two legs! :) She should have actually done more operatic songs for she had the voice, innit?!

And I am a German, I should know. :) But frankly speaking, Babs´ perfromances are always divine and sublime, so it´s no wonder these amazing songs go right to the heart. :) She alway prepairs well for a performance. Plus the fact, that she is speaking Yiddish and that language resembles the German one rather a lot. :)

Her German accent is the best I have ever heard a mime doing, to be honest! It´s not exaggerated at all! Especially not since you have to consider the time that play is set in! Just plain perfect, as Babs always is! :)
