It's giving people hope in their lives and faith is important. And when I say 'spirituality' I don't mean anything supernatural or magical--I'm referring to our natural tendency to speculate about the ultimate nature of things, the meaning of life, etc., as well as practices such as meditation and community gatherings. As long as religion continues to be about doctrine, it will be doing more harm than good and I really think we'd be better off without it. I could envision religion eventually being replaced with something <i>like</i> religion, but without requiring you to subscribe to any particular creed as the "gospel truth". AgenonTaeche ::: Favorites Religion generates a great deal of unnecessary (sp?) conflict over subjects that are not valid (unless seen as the fiction it is) to begin with, like the inconsitencies of Christian, Muslim, etc. scripture. If kids were not indoctrinated with it from a young age the need for and weight of it wouldnt be "neccesary".
