Russoft ::: Favorites Talljim, aren't you confusing forgiveness and punishment. The laws of the old testament include the death penalty. I know Jesus said "an eye for and eye and a tooth for a tooth..." etc (was that Jesus, don't take that as fact). All he was saying there, I believe, was not to take revenge. Talljim01 ::: Favorites In the new testament, Jesus voided the eye for an eye rule. He introduced forgiveness for all things. I agree that there needs to be punishment. But the eye for an eye was only OT to show that man was not perfect. However, in Romans 13, it speaks of the power given to authority figures such as the police etc, so if that were to include the authority in capital punishment, then God allows it sure. 07-01-30 19:11:38 _____________________________________________________
Russoft ::: Favorites Sorry, I miscommunicated. What I meant was, I know that Jesus was saying that that way the world would be blind and toothless, basically throwing the idea out. All I was saying was, I think there Jesus wasn't voiding out the idea of capital punishment, but taking justice into your own hands.
