Iraq was never central to the war on terror and, even though we made the situation there much worse,it still isn't. The little Bushie is mouthier, but Soltz walks all over him with the facts.

Captain. He was promoted in Oct 2002. It is simply impossible that then-LT Soltz was critical of the war, because the war hadn't even begun at that time. Unfortunately, the record here seems to make clear that the poster never did serve with Jon Soltz, unless he cares to give his name, in which case we could certainly verify if he knew Jon Soltz.

You're telling me America's passivity and betrayal didn't support Hitler?! It was America's obligation under The Treaty of Versailles to come to the aid of its allies when Czechoslovakia was invaded. Not until Germany declared war on the U.S. did we decide to take action. Check your History, Grazon.

Passivity while under duress is not the same as outright and willing support. Check your Law books, batesm.

You're correct. But for the purpose of my example, its irrelevant. You're being a little pedantic in analyzing my reply. Supporting Saddam in a passed Administration isn't an indictment of this Administration's polices. Not only are there better arguments out there (more plausible, let's say), but it has no weight in whether we should fight the War in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Master batesm. Here is the difference between you and us. I served in Iraq. And every morning, before every patrol I waited. Waited for my turn to die. Yes you heard me. This war is nothing other than an attempt to scare the American people. And I am not ashamed to say that I was one of those people. Scared into near hysterics by bowel voiding terror masqueraded as this so called "insurgency".

Don't you dare accuse Captain Soltz of cowardice for having the courage to come up with a plan. He was for this war at the beginning and THEN changed his mind only AFTER it became unpopular. It isn't Soltz's fault we are losing. And furthermore I must add that we at Vote Vets have fought this enemy and know the difference between truth and propaganda.

We want to kill Bin Laden. So that is why we want to immediately abandon the fight in Iraq and fight al qaeda in Afghanistan. Where the rugged mountainous terrain is much more conducive to our style of attrition armored warfare. You and your colleagues are sad

No, you want to run from the battle. You think leaving Iraq will result in spontaneous peace? You're delusional! No one called Soltz a coward, just a liar. By the way, I've been in battle...more than one conflict. I fought this enemy. Some of us void our bowels, others don't. I wasn't the former. I can believe a truck driver like Soltz was. Mountains conducive to armored warfare? You weren't a grunt either, were you? LIC in any terrain should be fought the same way; training the indigenous.

You don't impress me with your pulp fiction description of war, iamvotevets. I've been there and I've taken lives, but I don't feel compelled to flower up my rhetoric describing it. You however feel compelled to immediately dismiss me with a school yard taunt then talk about tactics like you know something about it. Its clear you don't. Be Soltz' acolyte. It won't have any impact on the war, only your integrity and honor.

He drove a truck with thick metal... If he thinks he can win a war in the mountains of Afghanistan with a movable canon, he should talk with the Russians. You think Iraq is bad with its IED ambushes? Go through a mountain pass in Waziristan with a tank.

My point is, tanks are the worst pick to win in Afghanistan. Its prime territory for asymmetrical artists like Special Forces, CIA, Delta and Rangers. If you have an insurgency, you have to fight it the same way the enemy does. US technology, professionalism and training will afford the advantage.

And Bin Laden certainly is not in Iraq. I am fed up with people who accuse those who have figured out that Iraq is the wrong arena in which to successfully fight the war against terrorism of wanting to "run from the battle". Al Quaeda was never even a presence in Iraq until recently. Better terrain or not,Afghanistan was and is where our efforts should be focused.
